What I Did Wrong
I lay on the floor with my back against the gray rubber mat. I clasped my hands behind my head, took a deep breath, and gave it everything I had. I tried to propel my torso forward into a full sit-up position, my abdomen trembled, but regardless of how hard I tried, I couldn’t make it happen.
Two months before this I had given birth to my sweet baby boy and my core muscles were still so weak. I didn’t know this then, but I shouldn’t have even tried to do a sit-up yet.
About Lauren and Total Lifestyle Management
Lauren is a military spouse whose husband currently serves as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. Prior to that, he served 8 years on active duty as a combat engineer and completed 2 tours to Afghanistan.
Lauren wanted to start Total Lifestyle Management because she’s infectiously passionate about health and desired to help others develop a healthy lifestyle that works for them. She also admitted to me she started her business as a way to stay busy while her husband worked long hours and was often away from home.
Lauren, unlike many trainers today, has a Master’s degree in Exercise Science. She has taught Exercise Physiology at the collegiate level and she has worked with professional athletes from the LPGA. Her extensive training, including that on prenatal and postnatal conditioning, has allowed her to develop a video course to help new moms feel confident in their fitness and nutrition after having a child.
Lauren’s a mom to 2 little ones herself, so she understands firsthand the challenges new moms face. Her own postpartum period was a serious struggle. Lauren told me that before she became a mom she had never even changed a diaper!
To add to her stress, her husband deployed just 6 days after their first child was born. Then after she had their second kid, she developed a painful umbilical hernia. These challenges played a significant role in inspiring Lauren to create this course for moms.
What You Get
In the “New Mom’s Guide to Fitness“, Lauren brings all of her years of education and training plus her understanding of real-life challenges together in one great course that new moms everywhere can appreciate!
The course includes 10 videos that cover topics such as planning your fitness, goal setting, eating while breastfeeding, proper core training, and gym and jogging stroller safety.
Here are some of my favorite parts of the course:
1. Lauren focuses on behaviors and making good decisions instead of losing pounds or getting to a smaller size.
2. The lessons are broken up into short segments, perfect for a busy mom, and they get right to the point.
3. There are handouts and links to blog posts to help support what you’re learning.
4. You will gain access to a private Facebook group where you can ask questions and share about your experience.
5. Since Lauren encourages new mom’s NOT to do sit-ups or planks, she includes a video with demonstrations of core exercises that ARE appropriate to do.
6. Included is a cute bonus video where Lauren demonstrates how to properly wear a baby so you aren’t causing yourself back or hip pain.
7. You will have lifetime access to the content so you can watch the videos when it’s convenient and can always go back if you need a refresher (or have another baby!).
All the Details on How to Get It
As new moms, we constantly worry whether we are doing things right. This is one area where you can have an expert come alongside you and take away your worry.
Now, I want to be clear- this is NOT an exercise program or complete meal plan (however, if you’re interested in either of those, go here). What these videos DO give you is guidance on how to put together an exercise routine and knowledge about how to make healthy food choices.
Having a baby changes everything, including your fitness and nutritional needs. “New Mom’s Guide to Fitness” is here to help! With it, you can feel confident again!
